The Filò awards recognize women of Italian heritage in the Ottawa area who are an inspiration and role model for other women in the Italian community. The awards are selected by an independent Selection Committee.

Who can be nominated?

Women of Italian heritage who, through their commitment and dedication, have made significant contributions to the social, cultural or economic well-being of the Ottawa community.

Questions to consider when making a nomination:

  • What volunteer work has the nominee performed?

  • Which community organizations has the nominee volunteered with?

  • How long has she volunteered? What was her role in the organization?

  • What impact has her contribution made in the betterment of the community?

  • Has the nominee inspired others in the community? If so, how?

  • Reason why candidate should be considered for an award.

How do I submit a nomination?

The nomination period for 2026 is over (Deadline: January 31st, 2026). The nomination period for the 2027 event will re-open in November 2026, so please revisit at that time.
